Governor Linda Lingle recently nominated 160 individuals to serve on various state boards and commissions. All of the nominees are being reappointed to serve new terms. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
In addition to the nominees for boards and commissions, three individuals appointed by the governor to serve as directors of one department and key agencies are also going through the Senate confirmation process.
They include Brennon Morioka, interim director, Department of Transportation; Abbey Seth Mayer, director, Office of Planning; and Katherine Kealoha, director, Office of Environmental Quality Control.
Nearly 1,300 people statewide serve on more than 160 boards and commissions that are established by the state constitution, state statutes, or executive orders.
Boards and commissions are designed to get input from a broad cross section of Hawai‘i residents.
