The public is invited to join the excitement when the Nawiliwili Yacht Club opens its 2008 season, Saturday.
A race heralds the start of the NYC 2008 season with the first flags flying at 10 a.m., and the public is invited to view the competition from the Nawiliwili Harbor jetty wall at no charge.
Two races will highlight the morning, and following the races, the NYC will host an Open House valentine’s gathering at its clubhouse located at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor where “yacht dogs” and a dessert will be available for a nominal donation.
Following tomorrow’s race and Open House, the NYC dives right into the Dick Becker Memorial Series.
Starting Mar. 2, the NYC will also offer sailing and boating lessons for juniors and adults in front of its clubhouse starting at 12:30 p.m.
According to information provided on the classes, sailors need to be 12 years or older to participate, and reservations are requested.
These classes are free to the public with a two-class limit for non-NYC members.
