In celebration of Humpback Whale Awareness Month, a free public lecture will be held tonight from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cheifess Kamakahelei Middle School Cafeteria in Lihu‘e.

The 90-minute lecture entitled “Beyond Tail Slaps and Breaches: Understanding Hawai‘i’s Endangered Humpback Whales,” will provide extensive information and new research findings about the endangered mammals.

The lecture will be presented by Jean Souza of NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
