Property tax deadline approaching

The second installment of real property taxes for the 2007-2008 tax year are due Feb. 20, according to county officials.

Real property tax bills were recently mailed to all Kaua‘i property owners or their respective servicing agents.

Payments can be made online at www.kauai.gov/payproperty.tax, by mail, in person, or at a drop box located outside the Lihu‘e Civic Center, Kapule Building.

Checks should be made payable to the Director of Finance.

Property owners who pay their real property taxes directly and have not yet received their bills should immediately inquire at the Real Property Tax Collection office, 4444 Rice St., Suite 463, or call 241-6555.

Failure to pay real property taxes by the due date will result in an assessment of a 10 percent penalty, as well as 12 percent interest per year.
