Honolulu Printmakers is one of the very few juried exhibitions held annually on O‘ahu (Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Hawai‘i Craftsmen, the now-biennial Artists of Hawai‘i), making it both a singular and a significant artistic event.
This year’s juror and visiting artist Laura Berman will select approximately 100 pieces out of 300 submissions, representing roughly 80 print artists from throughout the state of Hawai‘i.
Founded in 1928, the Honolulu Printmakers has included such illustrious names as Jean Charlot, John Young, Huc-Mazelet Luquiens, and John Kelly, to name a few.
Traditions as well as innovations in fine art printmaking are promoted through this annual exhibition, creative studio workshops and educational/community outreach.
The Honolulu Printmakers is a vibrant and cohesive arts organization nourished and enlivened by a variety of disciplines.
These include intaglio and relief printmaking (etching, engraving, drypoint, mezzotint, woodcut), lithography, monoprinting and silkscreen.
This annual exhibition is a highly anticipated venue for established and emerging artists ranging from students to septuagenarians.
Neighbor island entry deadline is Feb. 13. The Honolulu Printmakers invites all print artists in Hawai‘i to submit up to three entries for jurying. Framed prints should arrive at the Academy Art Center no later then Feb. 13.
