Applications for the Hawai‘i Surf Federation Kaua‘i, Contest No. 3, are currently available at the HSF Kaua‘i Web site.
The HSF Kaua‘i, Contest No. 3 is scheduled for Jan. 19-20 at First Ditch in Kekaha, and according to the Web site information, all participating surfers must be HSF members.
Starting time for the contest is 7:30 a.m. for all competitors.
Divisions include the Menehune, 11 and under, Boys 12-14, Junior Men 15-17, Open Men 18-24 and Girls 17 and Under.
Body Board divisions include Boys Body Boards, 14 and Under, and Jr. Body Board 15-17. There will also be one heat for Women 18 and over.
The contest format will be 6-man heats with preliminary heats going for 15 minutes, best two waves with a six-wave maximum.
Finals will be 15-minute heats, best two waves with an eight-wave maximum.
Entry fees are $20 for HSF members with $10 for each additional division.
Beach entry fees will be $30 with $15 for each additional division, if slots are available.
Membership dues for HSF are $50.
Alex Smith topped the Junior Men 15-17 and Open Men competition at the HSF Kaua‘i, Contest No. 2 which was held at Pine Trees in Hanalei, Nov. 25, 2007.
Nage Melamed topped the Girls 15-17 and the Women 18 and Over divisions in that meet that saw Mathew Holzman top the Boys Body Board 12-14 and Travis Smith taking the Jr. Body Board 15-17.
Dorian Blanchard topped the Menehune 11 and Under, Kaimana Jaquias topped the Boys 12-14 and Makana Munoz was the top Long Boarder.
Jesse Gugliamana earned the SurfCo Surfer Award for that meet.
