Mahalo to Lisa Iida, an 8th grader at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, for getting all the results of the Kapa‘a pre-season basketball tournament!
She started out using some kind of pencil that reflects light, but once she got the hang of it, she’s one good scorekeeper. Keep it up, Lisa!
Mahalo, too, to Marcia Shimokawa and the Hawai‘i Community Foundation ‘ohana for the special UH cap that came in handy for the Kenny Ishii photoshoot. And the winner for holiday gifts has to go to Faith Shiramizu at the Department of Water for all the ingredients for making UFOs. See what happens when there’s no more Kaua‘i Kitchens?
Hats off to Kaua‘i Hilton chef Mark Sassone and his culinary staff for a great Christmas brunch! A lot of Kaua‘i people had the same idea … Catherine Stovall and her ‘ohana, Lori Parraga and her family, and too bad Donna Fujiwara had to work. But her family was thinking about her while they enjoyed the grinds.
When there is a break in school, guess what? Everyone shows up for lunch at the Puakea Grille (they still have their Kaua‘i Food Bank box out, too). Mark Tanaka, Dickie Chang, Fred Rose, Tom Perry and the Roy Oyama ‘ohana were all enjoying grinds.
Dean and Lei Nakayama are back after spending Christmas on O‘ahu, and Ivan Hirahara was seen with his new UH shirt cruising the mall. Brandi Kam got her UH gear for Christmas, but had to get a cap for aunty. OK, ‘nuff said … time to check out the Grand Hyatt craft fair.
