What a great way to celebrate the holidays! Alfred Darling had the task of getting Sean Naaoao from the airport to the celebration, and Mike Faye wasn’t kidding when he said he had something special for the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i float.
Mike was out refereeing one of the KIF soccer games before heading for the parade, and Kayla Kitabayashi’s folks were figuring they could make it back after watching one half of the varsity girls’ game, too.
Of course, you never know the famous people you’re going to run into like Theresa Koki and Craig DeCosta’s mom who was getting the food ready at the Waimea Big Save. She was right next door to the Waimea girls basketball team who was offering up some laulau plates.
Kori Sakamoto was busy scooping ice cream all day at Lappert’s in Koloa, but still made it back to sell laulau, and how does June Tada rate a VIP seat in Obsessions … the grill was going strong with shrimp. Kaua‘i Mayor Bryan Baptiste and Annette took time to wish Merry Christmas to as many people as he could before the parade started, and tailgate parties are not just for football games. The half moons being sold by the Waimea High School band was the perfect pick-me-up to the staging area.
Merry Christmas, Kaua‘i! Stay safe!
