PUHI — Kaua‘i Community College was the beneficiary of a $10,000 check from the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation at a luncheon meeting of A&B’s Kaua‘i subsidiaries managers Friday.
According to a release from KCC, the A&B Foundation has donated $133,000 to the college since 1993. The foundation also supports several programs and units of the University of Hawai‘i, with total contributions of more than $850,000 throughout the university system.
“Support of our corporate partners in the community make it possible for the college to enhance the total learning experience for our students and further develop our faculty teaching skills,” Shirley Tani, director of development at KCC, said in the release. “We thank the A&B Foundation and its corporate subsidiaries for its ongoing support which is greatly appreciated.”
Representing the A&B Foundation at the luncheon were Tom Shigemoto, vice president of A&B Properties Inc., Trinette Kaui of A&B Properties, Dewayne Kong of Matson Navigation Co., Wayne Katayama of Kauai Coffee Co., and Tim Hoxie of Kaua‘i Commercial.
KCC Chancellor Peggy Cha accepted the gift on behalf of the college.
KCC relies on partnerships throughout the community with private and public constituencies who can have a meaningful impact on the quality of life on Kaua‘i, the release said.
