The Chancel Choir of Koloa Union Church will be presenting a Christmas Cantata, “Ceremony of Candles” by Joseph M. Martin at the Christmas Eve Service, at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 in the sanctuary of the church at 3289 Po‘ipu Road. All are welcome to attend.
The choir will be under the direction of Joyce Anglemyer, director of music, who will also be the accompanist. Narrator for this presentation will be Larry Chaffin; Susan Hironaka will be playing the flute; Amy Sugano and Richard Anglemyer will be on hand bells and Jane West will be the soprano soloist.
The choir is made up of members from Koloa Union Church. The singers are: Jo Duvauchelle, Nani Hill, Yone Honjo, Karen Johnson, Edie Moe, Jean Odo, Mimi Pagador, Becky Sakamae, Sara Shiraki and Jane West in the soprano and alto sections. Men in the choir include: Doug Duvauchelle, Ray Duvauchelle, Jerry Hill, Al Moe and Diki Sugawa.
“Ceremony of Candles” is a cantata that uses carols and candlelight to embody the hope of Christ. On the First Sunday in Advent a portion of the cantata was sung, and will continue through Advent and culminate with the performance on Christmas Eve.
