WAILUA — Alcohol and speed may have been factors in a crash yesterday that required a 25-year-old to be airlifted to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.
James Wilson, of Kapa‘a, sustained serious injuries in a one-car crash around 3:15 a.m. yesterday morning, said Mary Daubert, county spokeswoman.
According to police, Wilson was northbound on Kuhi‘o Highway near the Wailua golf course prior to the accident.
A county release states Wilson apparently lost control of the Dodge sedan he was driving, slid onto the shoulder and struck a utility pole just north of mile marker four.
Wilson, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and then transferred to O‘ahu for further treatment.
At press time, his condition was not available to the public.
