Gov. Linda Lingle has proclaimed Friday, Dec. 7, as “Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day” in Hawai‘i, and has ordered the Hawai‘i state flag to be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset. The governor’s action is in conjunction with President George W. Bush’s proclamation of lowering the United States flag.
Various events will be held Friday to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack and honor those who lost their lives, including a ceremony at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Pier Kilo, at 7 a.m., as well as a USS Oklahoma Memorial Dedication at Ford Island on O‘ahu.
