Tyler Tangelder netted eight goals to lead the Kapa‘a High School Boys soccer team to the title in the Hawai‘i Prepatory Academy KaMakana Classic over the weekend.
Rolling behind a 2-1 pre-season win over the Mili-lani Trojans, the Warriors took its win on the road for the tournament on the Big Island.
To get to the top, the Warriors bested Honoka‘a 5-1 and advanced to best host HPA 5-3 before clinching the trophy with a 4-0 win over Makua Lani in the six-team field.
Tangelder opened the tournament by netting two goals in Kapa‘a’s win over Honoka‘a, scored another four goals in the Warriors’ victory over HPA, and iced the road trip with another pair of goals against Makua Lani.
Chance Bukoski, the strong Warrior middle forward, netted goals in Kapa‘a’s win over Honoka‘a and HPA.
Taylor Langstaff netted goals in Kapa‘a’s win over Honoka‘a and Makua Lani. Other Warriors scoring included Ikaika Fuerte scoring a goal against Honoka‘a and Caleb Sarsona helping the Warrior effort over Makua Lani.
The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation regular soccer season starts Dec. 5 when Kaua‘i hosts Kapa‘a at Vidinha Stadium.
