Wilson, who completed another successful season on the PGA Tour, was extended an exemption by the sponsors to play in this year’s event.
Fifteen-year-old Bradley Shigezawa (35-34) of Punahou School is currently in second place at 3-under-par 69. He captured the Turtle Bay Amateur in October.
There are three tied for third place at 2-under-par 70: David Ishii (38-32) of Pearl Country Club, Iolani eight-grader Lorens Chan (35-35), and Kevin Carll (37-33) of Turtle Bay Golf.
In the Senior Division, there are two tied for the lead at 1-under-par 72: last year’s Aloha Section PGA Senior Player of the Year, Ron Kiaaina (35-36) of Makaha Resort, and defending senior champion Leland Lindsay (34-37).
The Women’s Division was a full field of junior amateur golfers. Seventeen-year-old Nicole Sakamoto (39-34) of Kalani High School is in first place with a 1-over-par 73. One stroke back is Moanalua High School Junior Kristina Merkle at 38-36-74.
