The Kaua‘i Society of Artists (KSA) will be accepting entries for its annual Small Works Show Holiday 2007 on Saturday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kukui Grove Exhibition Hall (Unit B-6) in Lieu. The Small Works Show is always a fun show for both artists and art lovers.
KSA hopes artists will be inspired in a big way to create some small works for the exhibition, which opens December 8 and runs through January 18.
All current KSA members may enter, and new or renewing members are welcome to join on entry day. This will be a “semi-juried” show with at least one piece per artist accepted. Juror for the show will be Hawai‘i artist and gallery owner Pegge Hopper, best known for her paintings and prints of distinctive island women.
Artists may enter up to five works in any medium, none larger than 16 inches high, wide, or deep including any frame or stand. For full entry details visit www.kauaisocietyofartists.org. Entry forms will be available on entry day or at Art Framers Partners in Lihu‘e and Davison Arts gallery in Kapa‘a, or call John at 821-8022 for more information.
Along with the exhibition, participating artists will be invited to create holiday tree ornaments which will be on display during the first week of the show.
The public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday, December 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a walk and talk with Pegge Hopper followed by an awards presentation. The exhibit will continue open free to the public daily (except holidays) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until 8 p.m. on Fridays.
KSA currently has an interim exhibition of works by 36 Kaua‘i artists on display through November 28 at Kukui Grove Shopping Center. The Small Works Show Holiday 2007 is sponsored by KSA with support from the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Hawai‘i State Legislature. Space is courtesy of Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
