Kaua‘i High School graduate Tryson Shigemoto recently earned the overall trophy at the 2007 Paradise Cup held at the Sheraton Waikiki, recently.
According to a note from Erin Nishikawa, one of Shigemoto’s friends who was in attendance at the event, Shigemoto entered the Open Division as a middle weight. He ended up winning his middle-weight class en route to the overall trophy.
The overall competition involved the winners of each class competing for the overall honor at the end of the class competition.
For Shigemoto, this marks his second appearance at the Paradise Cup, considered one of the premier body-building contests in Hawai‘i.
During his appearance last year, Shigemoto entered the Novice Division as a middle weight and finished by winning his weight class, the overall trophy and the Best Poser award as well.
Shigemoto trains with Chris Faildo, who was featured in a previous issue of TGI when Faildo won a national title in New York.
Faildo has been working with Shigemoto for the past two years, and are both natural body builders.
This means they do not use muscle enhancing substances.
