Andrew A. Apuna Sr
Andrew A. Apuna Sr. (“Andy,” “Pop”) of Anahola went home to be with his Lord and savior Oct. 26, 2007, at Straub Clinic and Hospital, at the age of 83. He was born Mar. 10, 1924, in Kahakuloa Valley on Maui.
He was retired from Pearl Harbor Naval shipyard, Tongg Ranch, and owned Andy’s towing and autowrecking. He was also a retired cowboy of William Hyde Rice Ranch and HPA Security Services. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Paulita N. “Linda” Apuna.
He leaves a legacy of 13 children: sons Andrew (Dora Jane), Nathan (Frances), Neil (Dawn), Reginald (Gail) Apuna, Kealoha (Kristen), Donald (Pam) Hoopii, Robert (May), Enfield; daughters Coleen (Ron) Rivera, Eileen (Charlie) Vidinha, Rhonda (George) Tandal, Andrea “Sweetie” (Myron) Hamasaki, Bernadette (Joseph) Janicki, Bernadine (Barney “Duke”) Cypher; 39 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. till 10:45 a.m.; services to follow at 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will be at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
The family requests Hawaiian attire and that flowers be omitted.
Randy R. Rodgers
Randy R. Rodgers of Princeville died Nov. 6, 2007 at the age of 56. Born on Feb. 6, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, he resided in Prescott, Ariz., for many years before moving to Kaua‘i in 1987. Randy was a general contractor and the president of Rodgers Construction, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Paul Rodgers and his mother Mary Elizabeth Rodgers.
He is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl Rodgers; daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and Manuel Crain and Kristy and Cris Bunao of Kaua‘i; stepson Justin Yoshida of O‘ahu; grandchildren Lyndsey Crain, Cassandra Bunao, Larissa Crain, Kyara Bunao, Taylor Crain, Courtney Bunao and Kennah Bunao all of Kaua‘i; brother James Rodgers of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother-in-law Frances Nishihara of O‘ahu; brother-in-law Keith (Mae-ann) Nishihara of O‘ahu; sister-in-law Karen (Richard) Hiroshige of O‘ahu; brother-in-law Craig (Alison) Nishihara of O‘ahu; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, beginning at noon at Kalihiwai Beach. The family requests casual attire.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Rodgers family with arrangements.
