The Waimea High School’s girls volleyball team made it to another round of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II State Volleyball Championships yesterday when the Menehune defeated Farrington High School in three games, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-23.
The Menehune (9-3) move from playing at Radford High School to McKinley High School when they play Hilo High School (16-2).
This will serve as the final game for the Menehune in this tournament, where the highest they can finish is fifth place.
In other Division II action, top-ranked Hawaii Baptist Academy defeated Moloka‘i High School 25-21, 25-16.
No. 2 Seabury Hall defeated Word of Life in three games, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17; Hilo beat Castle High School 25-16, 25-13.
Waimea will play Hilo at 4:30 p.m. today at McKinley.
Waimea finished third at states last year and earned its way to the championship tournament by winning its second straight Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation championship.
