“Howl and scream challenge” Saturday
Kaua‘i Village shopping center hosts its first annual Halloween “Howl and Scream Challenge.” The event for keiki ages 4 to 12 begins at 10:30 a.m., with the top noisemakers taking home tickets to the Mainland on ATA and two inter-island tickets on Aloha Airlines. The first 100 kids to make some noise receive free Meadow Gold ice cream and Halloween candy.
Screamers take the stage at 11 a.m. followed by howlers at 11:30 a.m. The winners of each round will go head-to-head in a howl-and-scream-off at noon to decide the ultimate champion, and the Lima Hula Halau will perform at 1 p.m.
Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and Augie T will be giving away autographed copies of his latest DVD.
Halloween night at the Storybook Theatre
On Halloween night you may find some strange but enjoyable goings on in Hanapepe at The Storybook Theatre. From 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors will be meeting some eerie characters from the building’s historical days gone by. These special guests will be appearing for one night only before returning from whence they came to lead visitors on a tour of the old building and its many spooky hiding places with untold secrets.
Storyteller Mark Jeffers has been asked to tell of his real-life haunting and ghostly encounters. Visitors who’ve met the ones with unfinished business on Earth are welcome to tell about those experiences. Please no screams or gnashing of teeth during the presentation.
Refreshments will be served in time enough for friends to make it safely back to their homes before the bewitching hours of the night. Appropriate for ages 5 years and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
