Kaua‘i JV put to the test – Kaua‘i 3, Waimea 0
WAIMEA — Kaua‘i High School’s junior varsity volleyball team was put to the test Wednesday night when the girls faced the one team that beat them this year: Waimea High School.
After Waimea put Kaua‘i on the run in Game 1, 25-21, the Menehune turned up the heat even higher in Game 2. It was as though the game would not end and each team answered the other with a point. At game point, a hitting error by Kaua‘i’s Waileia Kanealii tied the game at 24-24. She was then struck with a lift call on the next play giving Waimea the advantage.
Waimea served into the net tying it up and again, with huge relief to Kaua‘i.
Kaua‘i’s Teal Basquez was able to put it down for a kill to bring the game back to 25-25. The game continued on to extra points finishing at Kaua‘i 28-26.
Waimea was able to keep Game 3 just as close, but still fell short, losing by two.
Waimea plays Kapa‘a High School starting at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
