The Westside Pride worked to keep its undefeated streak going, but were twarted by the strong blackshirt defense from the Ha‘aheo Boys who kept the Pride from scoring in a 0-0 stalemate, Sunday.
Despite the tie, the Westside Pride continues to lead the U8 division with a 5-0-1 record and 16 points. The Ha‘aheo Boys follow at 4-1-1 and 13 points in the Kaua‘i Soccer Association Seven-a-Side league.
In another hotly-contested matchup, the Ha‘aheo Teenie Wahine and the Westside Falcons battled to a 1-1 deadlock in the Under 8 division.
That tie brings the number of teams holding stalemates to 4 in the U8 division.
Ha‘aheo TW is currently No. 3 with a 3-2-1 record and 10 points followed by the Westside Falcons at 2-3-1 and 7 points.
Kapa‘a Blaze, a 5-0 winner over High Maintenance is 2-4-0 with 6 points followed by High Maintenance at 0-6.
Faith Blaylock, Quinn Garner, Deshaynee Iseri-Carvalho, Raven Ochoa and Shaylia Pimental netted goals for High Maintenance in that victory.
The Westside Falcon 10 continued its dominance in the U10 division with a 10-0 showing over the Tunda Girls.
With the win, the Falcons 10 hold a 5-0-1 record with 16 points while the Tunda Girls slipped to No. 3 in the standings with a 2-2-2 record and 8 points.
The Westside Falcons 9, a 2-0 winner over the Kaua‘i Sparks, is in second place with a 3-2-1 record and 10 points with the Sparks rounding out the division at 0-6.
A double-header sweep by the U12 Westside Falcons, 5-1 over the Lihu‘e Elements and 6-0 over the Panthers. gives them the lead in the U12 division with two weekends remaining in the season.
The Falcons hold a 7-0 undefeated streak with 21 points followed by the KSC-Blazing Angels who are 3-1-2 and 11 points. The Hawaiian Heat fill in No. 3 of the division with a 2-2-2 record and 8 points. The Lihu‘e Elements and Panthers are tied at 1-6-0 for the Elements and 1-5-0 for the Panthers with each team holding 3 points.
Machaela Rapozo, Maegan Wong, Mia Cabulisan and Mariah Pai netted goals to lead Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i to a 4-1 win over the GIFC-14 in the Girls Under 14 division.
Kelsie Fujimoto netted the GIFC goal that brings that standings to Ha‘aheo holding a 5-0-0 record and 15 points in the division followed by the GIFC-14 at No. 2 with a 4-2-0 and 12 points. GIFC-13 rounds out that division at 0-7. GIFC-14 retained its hold at No. 2 by downing the GIFC-13, 2-1.
The Westside United and the GIFC-Cougars were both winners to keep the lead in the Boys Under 14 division tied between the two teams.
In the early contest, the Cougars were 6-2 better than Eastside Galaxy followed by the Westside United getting past the Westside Falcons, 12-1 in the afternoon matchup.
Both teams are tied for the lead in the BU-14 division at 5-1-0 and 15 points followed by the Eastside Galaxy at 1-4-1 and 4 points. The Westside Falcons are 0-5-1 for a point.
According to coach Kevin Gusman, playoffs for the KSA Seven-a-Side league start Nov. 4 with the championships being determined on Nov. 11.
Games continue each Sunday at the North Vidinha soccer fields starting from 11:30 a.m., and the public is invited to come and support the youth in the fast-paced arena.
