Dave Tao was recently named production manager at Kauai Publishing Co.
In his new role, Tao will oversee the daily production of the company’s publications, including The Garden Island.
“I am confident that under (Tao’s) leadership, the company and his department will continue to grow,” Publisher Mark Lewis said.
Tao replaces Art Tsuha, who retired after more than 30 years with Kauai Publishing and former sister publications.
Also a longtime employee, Tao has more than 14 years service on-island with Kauai Publishing.
Prior to joining The Garden Island in 1993, Tao worked for seven years at a sister company on O‘ahu.
Reflecting on his time at Kaua‘i’s only daily newspaper, throughout its ownership changes and reincarnations, Tao said the product has never stopped growing.
“It’s always progressing over the years for the better,” he said.
Looking forward, Tao plans to combine the press and packaging departments to increase job rotation and diversify responsibilities among the staff.
“My main goal is to help the company move forward,” Tao said.
