Talk about good things happening — coach Orlando Anaya was just asked to be the Head Official when the University of Hawai‘i opens its swim and dive season against Arizona State this weekend. Of course that means no practice for Mokihana Aquatics swimmers, but coach O gets to see Keenan in action.
Chris Cook, former TGI editor, was just on the phone too. He is now working in Washington state at the Folks Forum, and for all those who want to touch bases with him, check out that publication.
If you need something to do, check out Danny Genegabuas’ paintball tournament that’s going to benefit the American Cancer Society. Danny said Norberto Garcia should be out to help along with some of the other paintball notables … too bad Clorinda Brede and her family are on the mainland … miss out!
And if your animals need blessing, Mary Lindquist of the Episcopal Church on West Kaua‘i will have two services, tomorrow … Kekaha starting at 8 a.m., and ‘Ele‘ele starting at 10 a.m. Last year, they even had horses in attendance…OK, gotta check them out between the paintball and coach Kevin Devitt and the Seven-a-Side.
Hats off to Nathan Kalama and his Kaua‘i Mokihana Festival ‘ohana for doing a great job with the 23rd Annual event … got to see Jill Kouchi (Masami said she made the quilt cases for the ‘ukulele) among the crowd at Maka‘iwa, and Felipe Bautista even had his Miss Hula Halau beauty queens there … that means we got to see Kathleen Woodward twice in less than a week, and Nalani Brun was doing the aerobics dance thing in the morning, and at the Maka‘iwa event that night.
