Malama Pono and Kauai United Way have teamed up to create a reprise presentation of “Kauai Sings the 50s and 60s.” Kaua‘i’s greatest singing talent will return to the Hukilau Lanai, Kauai Coast Resort in Kapa‘a at 7 p.m. tonight and at 5 p.m. Sunday to take Kaua‘i back to the heyday of the baby-boomers.
More than 10 singers will take the stage nightly and croon over 20 of the top hits from those long-gone days. Expect downright nostalgia as do-wop gives way to the Beatles, Credence Clearwater Revival and a hefty dose of Tina Turner as well as evocative folksong-era stylings yearning for peace.
Only 100 seats are available each evening. This is a ticket-less event. That means reservations are taken only by phone and checked off as people present themselves at the event. Reservations are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and student reservations are $15.
A no-host bar will be provided. Proceeds benefit Malama Pono’s Hepatitis C community education project and the Kauai United Way general fund. Reservations are available only from Malama Pono at 246-9577.
