Our panelists had quite the week when it came to our football picks. Who would’ve thought that Michigan would lose again. Yes, everyone was talking about Michigan’s crazy loss to Appalachian State. But I thought they would bounce back from that and beat Oregon.
I guess not. At least I wasn’t alone. My fellow panelists, David Bice from FM 97, Dickie Chang of Wala‘au and Ron Wiley of KONG Radio all picked Michigan, too.
Here’s how we fared. Wiley and Bice both went 9-4, but Bice came out on top because he was the closest in predicting the final score of the Arizona/San Francisco game. Chang and I went 8-5.
A big congratulations to our first weekly reader winner Felipe Bigno of ‘Ele‘ele who submitted his ballot. He went 12-1 and his only loss was the Michigan game. Darn those Wolverines! Bigno won $50 from for winning.
Col. Jerald Knudsen of Kalaheo won the chance to be a panelist for the week. He is our very first guest panelist for this year’s “Football Frenzy.” He won a $25 gift certificate to the Polynesia Cafe in Kapa‘a and still has a chance to win for the week.
For those who don’t know what’s how this works, The Garden Island has gathered a team of panelists who will try to accurately predict who will win a string of football games.
There are two ways for readers to win. A winner who accurately beats the panel wins in the same fashion that Bigno did. A reader also wins by being selected as a panelist.
The fun thing about being selected as a finalist is that if you’re selected as a panelist, you still have a chance to beat the panelists. It’s as simple as that. Just fill out a ballot and turn it by the designated time for a chance to win.
The ballots will be published every Thursday and a guest panelist is chosen by the following Monday.
Good luck and we’ll see how the panelists do this week. I may not have won, but my Fantasy team did.
