Dean Nakayama was trying to figure out a way to sell all those Tachibana band tickets, and the answer was in the back with Lei at Kaua‘i Bakery … buy a ticket, get a taro (or onion) roll.
Those rolls are so-o-o good you don’t need butter! And since Kaua‘i Bakery is right across from Marc Imamura (he greeted a Beijing exchange student who is staying with Coach Dave Hamamura). Has anyone noticed his new sign?
With football season, Hamura Saimin hit the spot (mahalo to Joe, Paulette Grace and their helper for that pick-me-up) before having to get the Kapa‘a High School bowling team’s photo.
While doing a story on Costco and the hurricane, J Robertson said Roy Nishida knew where the water was. Mona and Clesson Lee didn’t have that problem late Monday night, and after all that experience, Blake Jones is almost convinced that a Costco membership is the way to go.
OK, it’s off to a full weekend…if you want some action, check out the first race at the Mokihana Fun Meet … Kesia Anaya, Emma Rausch, Meaghan Sims are all in striking distance of each other in the Girls 100 Free. And, Kendra Rask comes back to Kaua‘i with a time under 1:00! This is the one to watch since Kesia is with Mokihana while Emma and Meaghan are with SKA. Kendra is swimming unattached.
Then, go visit coach Steven Kaui and the Kapa‘a Warriors at their new home field. Sunday, it’s the Superferry and the surf meet with Kalani Vierra and Blanche Yoshida.
Stay safe, everyone…we’re in a holiday weekend!
