A 29-year-old woman began driving on the wrong side of Kuhio Highway yesterday morning after experiencing a seizure, according to county officials.
Eyewitnesses told police that the southbound driver crossed the center line outside of Kapa‘a around 9:30 a.m. After bumping a few cars that did not make it far enough out of the way, she reportedly skidded along the guard rail.
Police said the woman finally came to a stop in her vehicle near South Leho Drive.
County spokeswoman Mary Daubert said the driver, who recently moved to Kaua‘i from O‘ahu, was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and subsequently released.
There were no major injuries.
