Art Umezu said Robert Kawamura and the Kaua‘i High School band are still looking for host families for the 100 Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass and Marching Band. This is the fourth time the band has been here, and if you haven’t seen them, you are missing out!
Daniel Kawamura is getting ready for the farm fair, and Sanae Morita said the Home Show will feature a teddy bear fashion contest this year.
The fair opens on Aug. 23, and Joel Pahukula said that’s the night they start up the KQNG sports show at JJ’s Broiler, too. Oh well, talk show and off to the fair.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Daniel Hamada on his promotion! Waimea High School principal Glenda Miyazaki said he’s already gone to Honolulu, and Bill Arakaki is the acting superintendent.
March 26 is the date for the Academy of Hospitality and Travel’s second annual gala aboard the NCL cruise ship, said Leah Aiwohi. Since it’s Prince Kuhio’s birthday, she was thinking the students might do something on that theme for this year’s gala … start saving your kala … last year’s one was good!
Leah is also the head of the Kaua‘i High School EAST program who got visited by Wanda Shibata and Jim McDowall of Young Brothers who learned that Nathan is Leah’s husband. Hats off to YB for partnering with such a good program.
OK, ‘nuff said … time to get out to Hanalei for the state canoe races. If we go early enough, we can visit Bobby Kubota at P ono Market for snacks … ginger sushi, anyone?
