Annabelle Kaliko Kawaihalau, 70, of Pahoa and formerly of Lihu‘e, died June 14 at Hilo Medical Center.
Born in Honolulu, she was a retired bartender in the hotel industry and member of the ILWU Pension Club and Hawaiian Ladies Golf Club.
Friends may call at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, at the ILWU Hall in Lihu‘e for a memorial service. Call 652-1609 for more information.
She is survived by daughters Shirley-Ann Momilani “Honey-girl” (Raymond Baldonado) Kawaihalau of Pahoa, Betty Jean Morilani “Queenie” Kawaihalau of Lihu‘e, Geri Puanani “Pee-Wee” (Ray) Manaku of Anahola, Lehuanani Mae “Nani” (Frank) Santos of Springfield, Va.; sons William “Boy” Kawaihalau Jr. and James Michael-Lee “Jimmy” (Vanessa Yatsuoka) Kawaihalau, both of Lihu‘e; Abraham Kuulei “Honey-Boy” Kawaihalau of Millsboro, Delaware; hanai son James Chaves of Kalaheo; hanai daughter Amber Hall of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers Jerry K. (Doreen) Jona of Maile, O‘ahu; William Kakui (Mabel) Pai of Waimea (Kamuela); Phillip (Mary-Ann) Pai of Honaunau, Kona; Delayne (Glennis) Pai of ‘Ele‘ele; sister Shirley Mae Gipcomb of the Mainland; hanai brothers Cagle Wilhelm of Nanakuli, O‘ahu; Fred Maximo of Lihu‘e; hanai sisters Annie Bailado of Paauilo, Big Island; Octavia (Mitchell) Nakamura of Hanama‘ulu; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
