Emmaline Hooikaika
Emmaline “Emma” Helen Hiilei Hooikaika of Anahola died at home on July 11, 2007, at the age of 69. She was born in Koloa on Feb. 10, 1938, and was a dedicated homemaker besides being employed as a waitress at Coco Palms Hotel and Hanalei Plantation.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1979, Richard K. Hooikaika; her long time companion in 2006, James K. Reyes; two granddaughters, Hiilei Hooikaika, Tiffany Medina; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Kaauwai; two brothers, Samuel “Sonny” Kane and Arthur Poli.
She is survived by children Desiree “Kui” (Phil) Tung Loong of Kapa‘a, Ahkem (Catalina) Hooikaika of Catalina Island, Frank (Ulu) Hooikaika of Anahola, Elizabeth “Liz” (Thomas) Hooikaika of Anahola, Lynette “Lehua” (Don) Hooikaika-Medina of Wailua, Billy (Ellen) Hooikaika of Anahola; step-children Brian Reyes, Blaine (Maile) Reyes, Barrett Reyes, Marlene Silva, Roxanne Silva; siblings Alice (Yoshio “Cheetah”) Kaneshiro of Kekaha, Lilly Christian of Kapa‘a, Ahkem (Roslyn) Tung Loong of California, Melvin Tung Loong of California, Charlotte (Ben) May of Tennessee, Douglas “Boogie” Tung Loong of Arkansas, Marvin Tung Loong of California; aunts Emily Smith of Kapa‘a, Alfreida Hanano of Koloa; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihu‘e with viewing from 10 a.m. and services beginning at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow. Donations may be made to Lynette Hooikaika-Medina at P.O. Box 368, Anahola, HI 96703.
Casual attire is suggested.

Bernice Satomi Shiraishi
Bernice Satomi Shiraishi died at Garden Isle Healthcare on July 18, 2007, at the age of 90. She was born in Waimea on July 23, 1916, and retired as an X-ray assistant at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clinton G. Shiraishi; and brother Shoichi Nakagawa. She is survived by daughter Jeanette (Harry) Kawamura; sisters Kimie Suga of Waimea, Hiroko (George) Okada of Honolulu, Matsugo Ogata of Honolulu; brother Masaji (Nancy) Nakagawa; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private services were held. Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted her family with the arrangements.
Jordaen Haruo Alisna
Baby Jordaen Haruo Alisna of Wailua Houselots died on July 23, 2007.
He is survived by his parents James and Nicole (Kuriki) Alisna Jr., maternal grandmother Janice Doi; maternal grandfather Clayton Kuriki; maternal great-grandparents Stanley and Catherine Doi and Albert and Jane Kuriki; paternal grandparents Sandy and Tom Gonsalves and James and Lianne Alisna; paternal great-grandparents Jessie Sam-Fong, Tom and Linda Rapozo, Domingo and Lourdes Alisna; great-great grandmothers Tillie Medeiros, Kiyoko Doi; aunts Tiffany Alisna, Kelsey Alisna, Naomi Alisna-Yadao, Jenna Kuriki, Shereen Gonsalves, Christy Gonsalves; uncles Dustin Gonsalves, Keilan Gonsalves, Brian Alisna-Yadao, Ikaika Alisna-Yadao; numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Kauai Memorial Gardens with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens in baby land.

Evelyn Mitsue Estrada
Evelyn Mitsue Oyakawa Estrada of Hanama‘ulu, died July 28, 2007, at her home at the age of 84.
Born May 28, 1923, on Kaua‘i, she was a retired assistant housekeeper for Coco Palms.
Preceded in death by her son Ronald Cardinez, she is survived by four daughters, Frances Bunao of Hanama‘ulu, Caroline (Burt) Gonsalves of California, Lydia (Tash) Castillo of California, and Alicia Estrada of Hanama‘ulu; two sons, Clarence (Carmen) Cardinez of California, Michael Cardinez of Hanama‘ulu; sister Naeko Pablo of Kaumakani; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel, where services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Wayne Steven Parraga
Wayne Steven Parraga of Kalaheo died July 29, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 53.
Born Sept. 2, 1953, in Waimea, he was proprietor of Parraga’s Service in Kalaheo.
He is survived by daughters Waynette Parraga, Tina (Greg Alejandro) Parraga and Vanessa Parraga; son Wayne “Kai” Parraga; parents Louis and Margaret Parraga; brother Franklin (Merla) Parraga and sister Penny Parraga; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Veterans Cemetery pavilion in Hanapepe. Inurnment to follow at the cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Tomie Tamura
Tomie Tamura, of Honolulu, died July 20, 2007, at Hawaii Medical Center East at the age of 84.
Born in Makaweli, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by son Michael T. Tamura of Honolulu; daughters Lynne N. (Mark Cavallanes) Tamura of Chicago, Ill., one grandchild; sisters Fukiko (Hiroshi) Shimizu of Mililani, O‘ahu, Miyoko (George) Apduhan of Mililani, O‘ahu, Yoshiko (Ikuo) Matsuda of Los Angeles, Calif.
Services were held July 29 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Arrangements were handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
