A Wednesday night brushfire burned roughly two acres of state land near a Methodist camp in Koke‘e.
The fire began at 9:27 p.m. and was under control by 10:50 p.m., county spokeswoman Mary Daubert said.
Seven firefighters from the Hanapepe, Kalaheo, Koloa and Waimea fire stations responded with a water tanker and backup from the battalion chief and three rescue specialists from the Lihu‘e fire station.
The firefighters returned to their respective stations at 2:20 a.m., when the fire was fully extinguished.
Division of Forestry and Wildlife personnel arrived on-scene around 8 yesterday morning to monitor the area.
Though no lives or structures were threatened by the fire, the effect on animals, if any, was not known at press time.
State emergency responders continue to mop up hot spots around the area of the fire yesterday afternoon.
