Hideo Oride of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 12, 2007, at the age of 77. Born in ‘Ele‘ele on May 30, 1930, he was a sales manager with Plumbing Specialties.
He is survived by his wife Edith Y. Oride; sons Dr. Michael (Gail) Oride of Lihu‘e, David (Jo Anne) Oride of ‘Ewa Beach, O‘ahu; Leslie Oride of Hilo; daughter Mia (Gerald) Ako of Lihu‘e; five grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Akagi and Madaline Yamauchi; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the All Saints Episcopal church in Kapa‘a; service at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Florence La Rue
Florence La Rue of Waipahu, and formerly of Tulare, Calif., died at St. Francis Hospice on July 9, 2007, at the age of 93.
Born on March 22, 1914, in Pine Prairie, La., she was a retired teacher and taught several years at Kaumakani School on Kaua‘i. After retirement she volunteered as a teacher of English as a second language to military wives on O‘ahu.
She is survived by her son Everett (Hanne) La Rue of Mililani, Hawai‘i, her daughter Sandra (Terry) Langiano of Tulare, Calif., three grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
She was active in the United Methodist Church in Wahiawa where there will be a ‘celebration of life’ service on July 21.
Remembrances may be sent to a favorite hospice.
