The Personal Assistance Habilitation Services offered by The Arc of Kaua‘i got a boost when it was granted a $1,000 grant from the Young Brothers Community Advisory Board.
According to a press release from The Arc, funds from the grant will be used primarily to acquire gloves and diapers for the PA program, the largest program offered by The Arc.
This service is an intensive and individualized program consisting of providing training to individuals with developmental disabilities to meet their goals, the release continues.
The service ranges from 24 hours a day, every day, to several hours each week. The service may be provided in the community, in clients’ homes, or at the program center located on Akahi Street in Lihu‘e.
The Arc of Kaua‘i is a nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with developmental disabilities on the island of Kaua‘i.
Originally formed by parents of children with special needs in 1956, The Arc continues to be operated as a family organization by maintaining a majority of parents on its board of directors.
