Bernardo S. Garcia
Bernardo S. Garcia of Kekaha died July 2, 2007, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
Born Aug. 3, 1924, in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a field-hand/laborer.
He is survived by his wife Josefina Garcia; sons Cresencio (Eliza) Garcia of Kilauea, Jessie (Evelyn) Garcia of Waimea, Joven (Ghene) Garcia of Las Vegas, Manuel (Marilyn) Garcia of Texas; daughters Gloria Garcia of Kekaha, Merilyn Garcia of Las Vegas, Mila (Rawlins) Char of Kekaha; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Veterans Pavilion at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, where services will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Inurnment to follow at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.

Matilda “Mattie” Elizabeth Naleimaile of Hilo died on July 2, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Hilo at the age of 78.
Born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Hilo, she was part owner of the Sand & Seaside Hotels (former Hukilau Hotels). She was also a member of the Kuulei Subdivision Association.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dodo Mortuary chapel where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
Friends may also call on Tuesday, July 10, at 2:15 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park, in Kaimuki, O‘ahu, for graveside committal services. The family requests that casual attire be worn to the services.
She is survived by daughters Lissa H. Andrews of Honolulu, O‘ahu, Allyson “Ally” (Gary S.) Andrews-Nelson of Pahoa and Trudie L. Andrews of Hilo; stepsons Howard (Pat) Naleimale of Waimea and Scott (Susan) Naleimaile of Honolulu; brothers William J. Kimi Jr. of Hilo and Richard W. (Kathy) Kimi of Honolulu. She is also survived by six grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Dodo Mortuary Inc.
