Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands is throwing a Stars & Stripes Freedom Celebration today from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The public is invited.
The event will be held at PMRF’s Command Softball Field.
PMRF’s Commanding Officer, Captain Aaron Cudnohufsky, will be on hand to welcome everyone and speak to the importance of Independence Day, states a press release.
Aloha Breeze will entertain with island music and Hawaiian favorites from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. O‘ahu band Koauka features a Jawaiian sound and will perform from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Food, games and craft booths will be available throughout the event.
A special booth will be in place to process applications for PMRF’s MWR Guest Card program. This program allows Guest Card holders access to PMRF recreation areas for surfing, fishing and swimming and grants entry to Shenanigans, the beachfront bar and grill.
And of course there will be fireworks.
This event will feature a 12-minute heart-pounding fireworks display at approximately 9 p.m., courtesy of Hawaii Explosives & Pyrotechnics.
Admission is free for this quality, family-oriented event. Friends and supporters of PMRF and guest cardholders can enter the base through the south gate at Kokole Point.
Watch for signs on Kaumuali’i Highway for directions. Free parking will be available on base, although visitors are reminded that all vehicles will be subject to search. Sorry, no outside food or beverages, no pets, no weapons or personal fireworks allowed. This is a Drug-Free event.
