Kaua‘i police verified this afternoon that the body found Wednesday morning at Larsen’s Beach was that of Roy Overstreet, 42, of Bellingham, Wash.
Overstreet went missing Sunday evening after trying to help another swimmer, who Washington media have stated was his pregnant wife, Cara Jaye, 42.
Jaye, 42, made it to shore on her own. A Good Samaritan who tried to help the couple, 56-year-old Michael Ancharski, of Kapahi, was rescued.
An autopsy was conducted today; however, cause of death has not been officially released.
The U.S. Coast Guard and county emergency responders called off their active search for Overstreet Tuesday.
