Doug Blumenthal and Nick Galindo are new to Kaua‘i, but not the polo fields.
The two gentlemen were introduced by Kaua‘i Polo Club president Ron Bonaguidi and the pair promptly went on to score often as Blumenthal netted four scores in Budweiser’s 9-6 win over Global Mortgage.
Both Blumenthal and Galindo are from the Eldorado Polo Club in California and will be joining the Kaua‘i
organization as trainers and polo players for this 10-week season that started Sunday.
Joining Blumenthal, Andy Busch, a 5-goal player, scored another four goals with Bonaguidi icing the win with a goal for the Budweiser team.
The high-scoring game pleased the large crowd that gathered at the ‘Anini polo fields for the season opener, said Bobbie Love in an e-mail release of the opening day game.
Ronnie Tongg, Scott Sims and Nick Galindo each netted two scores for Global Mortgage.
Games continue on Sunday at the ‘Anini polo fields with gates opening at 1:30 p.m. and the games starting at 3 p.m.
