Hamamoto posts “perfect meet” at states
Evan Hamamoto, 12, had a perfect meet at the 2007 USA Swimming Hawai‘i Long Course State Championships.
Hamamoto was one of two swimmers entered into the event by Mokihana Aquatics and finished by improving in the two events he competed in.
His biggest accomplishment came in the 100 Free (1:13.41L) where he shaved off 1.50 seconds off his previous time. Hamamoto also had a .16 second improvement in the 50 Free (31.92L).
Yasmine Ware, 10, the second Mokihana Aquatics participant, had improvements in four of the eight events she swam in.
Her biggest improvements came in the 50 Fly (41.18L) and the 200 Individual Medley (3:23.00L) where she trimmed 1.69 seconds off her previous times.
She also posted improvements in the 100 Fly (1:35.51L) and the 50 Free (33:48L) where she netted gains of .97 and .07 seconds.
Coach Orlando “O” Anaya was pleased with the performance of his young swimmers.
“They came from the ‘Learn to Swim’ program and now they’re showing how well they can do at these meets,” Anaya said. “Evan and Yasmine learned to swim with us. Now, we have a great new start. They were at their best this weekend.”
