Bronco teams from Kekaha and Kalawai will battle for the West Kaua‘i Bronco title this afternoon.
Following the long holiday weekend break, umpire Joe Bertucci said the playoff game will take place at Hanapepe Stadium starting at 4:30 p.m.
The playoffs came as a result of Kalawai holding off a late-game rally by Kekaha last Thursday to take a 9-8 victory.
Kalawai nailed down the victory in the third and fourth innings, scoring four runs in the third and added two runs on a sacrifice bunt from B.J. Freitas Jr.
Kekaha was able to answer with three runs in the seventh, but came up short.
That Kalawai victory forced a playoff for the title which was originally scheduled for last Saturday.
However, with commitments from teams to the long weekend calendar, there was a question on whether a playoff would occur.
Bertucci, umpiring one of the games at the 2007 Bash, said the playoffs will now take place today with the winner emerging as the West Kaua‘i Bronco champions.
