Watching the West Kaua‘i Bronco baseball game between Kalawai and Kekaha was sweetened when Tommy Rita and Uncle Louie Almadova showed up to check out the action.
Uncle Louie said former UH quarterback Timmy Chang has some Almadova blood in his veins — he’s Uncle Louie’s grandnephew. Actually, Tommy wanted to know more about the hau (bush) story.
Over at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, Jayme Jacinto came huffing and puffing just in time from her Ho‘oikaika volleyball tournament to make their game against Na Paniolo from Waimea … coach Sherry remembered coach Maynard Shea (he’s home!) from Vulcan camp, and coach Antonio Pope was able to get away from Aloha Center to help referee the game with Gene Padilla. Great job to Karen and Steven Matsumoto in organizing this 14 Under girls tournament!
Chase Parongao was in the audience trying to compare his 7.2 megapixel camera against the basketball cam.
Over at Hanapepe Stadium, congratulations to Menehune AD Jon Kobayashi and coach Kyle Linoz on a great blue-and-white experience! Coach Derek Borrero had his Red Raiders out in anticipation of their big event Saturday night, and mahalo to coaches Shawn and Yvonne Hosaka for the copy of the rosters.
