Marie Annette Mundon
Annette Mundon, of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Hospital May 10, 2007, at the age of 66.
Born in Louisiana, she was a resident of Kaua‘i for 27 years and an insurance agent for Allstate in Lihu‘e.
She is survived by husband James P. Mundon; daughter Sheri (Charlie) Carveiro, son Jay Mundon and daughter Jamie Mundon; seven grandchildren: Brandon. Cody, Kelli, Cory, Kasey, Kaeo and Kaila; brother Jim Young and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her granddaughter Jayda.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church, where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Kenneth Doudt
Kenneth Rice Doudt, of ‘Oma‘o, died May 5, 2007, at Centers at Lawa‘i Beach at the age of 53.
Born in New Jersey, he was a carpenter.
He is survived by sons Jeremy Doudt, Justin Doudt, and Gerry Doudt; mother Dorothy Doudt; sister Debbie Doudt and brother Gordon Doudt; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held at Prince Kuhio Park. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Vilma Gatchalian
Vilma Paguia Gatchalian, of Gilbert, Ariz., died on May 11, 2007, at Banner Hospital in Mesa, Ariz., at the age of 74.
Born in Sorsogon, Philippines, on April 27, 1933, she was a retired optometrist and a long-time resident of Kalaheo. Vilma was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and a very active Filipino Catholic Club member, a pioneer of the Misa de Gallo at the parish, a member of the Bailes de Jose Dance Troupe and a member of Kauai Visayan Club.
She is survived by her husband, Solomon Gatchalian, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held on Kaua‘i at a later date.
Jean Sueoka
Jean Kikuye Uyeda Sueoka, of Koloa and Tustin, Calif., died on May 12, 2007, at the age of 72.
Born in O’ahu on April 30, 1935, she was a retired secretary with Wackenhut Security.
She is survived by son Steve (Margaret) Sueoka, of Kapa‘a; daughters Sandra Sueoka, of California; Karen (Duane) Samiano, of Koloa, and Cindy Sueoka, of California; sisters May (Blaise) Na-kagawa, of Nevada, Judy (Milton) Chang, of O‘ahu, and Gale Nohara, of O‘ahu; and five grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, at Koloa Union Church, where services will begin at 10:30 a.m.
On O‘ahu, friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. on Friday, May 25, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, Honolulu, O‘ahu, where services will begin at 6 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Hana Au Hoy Hiu
Hana Au Hoy Hiu, of Honolulu, died May 12, 2007, in Honolulu.
She was born in Hanalei May 3, 1905.
She is survived by daughters Annette Hee and Mariette Hiu Newcomb; sons Frederick Hiu and Roland Hen Min Hiu; brothers Harrison Au Hoy and Norman Au Hoy; sister Alice Lee; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services are pending. Arrangements are being handled by Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawai‘i.
