Manuel Castillo Sr.
Manuel Castillo Sr. of Kekaha died at Hilo Memorial Hospital on May 9, 2007, at the age of 94.
Born in Koloa on Nov. 3, 1912, he retired as a boiler operator with Kekaha Sugar Co.
He is survived by sons Manuel (Deborah) Castillo Jr. of Arizona, Michael (Barbara) Castillo of Kalaheo; brothers, Maximo Castillo Jr. of Pearl City, William Castillo of California, David Castillo of Nevada; sisters, Anne Javellana of Kapa‘a, Mary Sabrado of Aiea, Frances Kim of Kane‘ohe, Lydia DeGrandis of Kaneohe; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at Sacred Hearts Church in Waimea with visitation from 10 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Charles Bunji Shimomura of Hanapepe died at his home on May 11, 2007 at the age of 74.
Born in Honolulu, O‘ahu on Oct. 7, 1932, he was a retired County Clerk with the County of Kaua‘i.
He is survived by son Dale (Penny) Shimomura of Hanapepe; daughter, Christie (Stan) Umamoto of Granada Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren; brother Daniel (Judy) Shimomura of O‘ahu; sisters, Hilda (Yoichi) Tamura of Honolulu, O‘ahu, Nancy (Henry) Miyamoto of Pasadena, Calif., and Barbara Gillespe of Long Island, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; service at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Helen Oliveira
Helen Agnes Oliveira of Lihu‘e died at Garden Isle Health Care on May 12, 2007, at the age of 82.
Born in Honolulu on Nov. 10, 1924, she retired with State of Hawai‘i Department of Education as an admissions clerk and substitute teacher at Kaua‘i Community College.
She is survived by daughters Bernice (Harold) Crowder of Oregon and Jo Ann Oliveira of Honolulu; son Stephen (Jeanne) Oliveira of New York; sister Jackie Alamida of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by children Sylvester Oliveira Jr. and Georgiana Warner; sisters Louise Hughes, Elizabeth Cooper and brother Anthony Alencastre.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 18, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.
