Shane Duncan, 27, of Wailua Homesteads has been charged with manslaughter for an alleged Wednesday evening attack on a 65-year-old woman that resulted in her death.
The Kaua‘i Police Department is holding Duncan in lieu of $101,200 bail.
KPD officials said an autopsy determined Marie Annette Mundon died of blunt force trauma to the chest area.
Mundon died on Thursday from the injuries sustained Wednesday.
Mundon was reportedly holding one of her grandchildren Wednesday on her Wailua driveway when Duncan drove up and got out of his vehicle. He allegedly shoved Mundon and grabbed the child from her, according to police.
A fight between Marie’s husband, James Mundon, 68, and the suspect reportedly occurred. When Marie Mundon tried to pull her husband away, Duncan allegedly kicked her in the chest.
James Mundon sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention. Duncan is being held at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center.
Duncan’s arraignment will be set this week.
