Makoto Murata of Kapa‘a died at home on April 27, 2007, at the age of 83.
He was born in Kapa‘a, on Sept. 1, 1923, and retired as shop superintendent with E. F. Nilson Incorporated.
He is survived by his wife Teri Murata of Kapa‘a; son Douglas (Valri) Murata of Honolulu; daughter Dawn Murata of Kapa‘a; 5 siblings, Yaeko (Robert) Kinoshita of Honolulu, Akira (Elaine) Murata of Honolulu, Mieko Bankson of California, Yoshie (Hisashi) Yamakawa of Honolulu, Doris Kirio of California; three grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. His sister Hatsuyo Matsunaga of Lihu‘e died just two days after his death.
Private services were held. Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Murata family with arrangements.
