May 31 is the deadline for all coaches wishing to register a 12U or 14U boys basketball team for the 3rd Annual Kaua‘i Open Invitational Tournament.
The tournament, hosted by The Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i in conjunction with the ZZ Youth Basketball Program, will take place at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on June 21, 22, and 23.
Jeff Venzon, one of the leaders for the ZZ Youth Basketball program, said the tournament will allow a co-ed team and will also entertain an all-girls team to compete against the boys’ teams.
Venzon said an all-girls tournament will be formed only if there are a minimum of four teams for each age division that will enter the league by May 15.
Age determination for all participating players is Dec. 31, 2006.

13U and 15U basketball sign-ups going on
Basketball coaches for boys and girls basketball teams in the 13 and Under and 15 and Under age groups still have time to register their teams in the 3 G’s Nation Boys & Girls Summer League.
Games for these age groups will start May 22 and interested coaches can contact league commissioner Vanda Aki at admin@3gsnation.com.
The 3 G’s Nation competitive basketball will start its 11 and Under program from Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.

Summer golf signup starts May 15
Registration for the county’s Summer Golf Program will take place at the Wailua Golf Shop from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. starting May 15.
Three two-week sessions are being offered to youngsters between ages 7 to 14 years old at the Wailua Golf Course.
The sessions will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. except on holidays.
The first session will run from June 12 through 22. The second session starts on June 25 and runs through July 6 followed by the third session from July 9 through 20.
Enrollment fee is $25 per child per session. Participants will need to bring the following clubs: a driver, No. 3 or 5 fairway wood, putter, No. 7 iron and a pitching wedge.

USTA conducts coaching workshop
The United States Tennis Association Hawai‘i Pacific Section will be conducting the next recreational coach workshop June 2, at Keawe Gym on Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The $30 Fee includes lunch and coaches packet of valuable teaching materials.

Senior golf tourney set for Wailua
The Kaua‘i Seniors Golf Club hosts its second quarter golf tournament at the Wailua Golf Course on Saturday, May 19.
All Seniors aged 55 years or older are invited to participate. May handicaps will be used to determine proper placement in the three flights.
