But it was the foot of Taetra Christensen that sank the go-ahead goal for Po‘okela.
Earlier in the contest, Machaela Rapozo and Maegan Wong netted goals for Po‘okela while Kelsey Cadiente broke open in the second half to put Kulia Lanakila in the scorebooks before Mayer netted her game-tying goal.
The orangeshirts of third-seeded GIFC-Po‘okela was an upset winner over the second-seeded Kulia Lanakila purpleshirts in shootout.
The victory will pit the GIFC Po‘okela against top-seeded BTU, a 4-2 winner over GIFC-Remix, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
In the Girls Under 12 division, both contests were settled by shootout as Ha‘aheo retained its control of the division with a 2-1 win over fourth-seeded Na Koa Soccer.
The third-seeded Titarellas upset second seed KSC-NS Hot Tamales with a 2-1 shootout victory.
The twin victories will see Ha‘aheo and Titarellas match up for the championship of the division starting at 8:30 a.m. at the North Vidinha fields.
In the Boys Under 12 contest, third-seeded Eastside Galaxy similarly upset second-seeded Westside Falcons on a 3-2 edge in the shootout.
Edsel Lactaotao notched two of the the Eastside Galaxy’s goals to end the regulation game knotted 2-2.
Lactaotao went on to boot the go-ahead goal in the shootout for the Galaxy.
Sanoe Taniguchi-Simbre and Krieg Medeiros accounted for the regulation scoring by the Westside Falcons.
With the win, the Eastside Galaxy go up against the undefeated Lihu‘e Cougars for the division title starting at 10:40 a.m.
