The Kaua‘i Hershey Track & Field Meet will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Vidinha Stadium.
Boys and girls beween the ages of 9 to 14 are eligible to compete until Dec. 31 of this year.
All age groups compete in standing long jump, softball throw and 4×100 relay the other events for the age groups are as follows:
Events for 9 to 10 year olds include the 50 meters, 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters.
Events for 11 to 12 year olds include the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and 800 meters.
Events for 13 to 14 year olds include 100 meters, 200 meters, 800 meters and 1600 meters.
Athletes are limited to two track and one field event or two field and one track event, including relays.
Shoes must be worn but baseball or football cleats are not allowed. Shoes designed to hold spikes are also not allowed, but aqua socks are allowed.
Athletes can enter at the stadium and ribbons will be awarded.
Results will be forwarded to the Honolulu Parks and Recreation office, which will send them to the national organization. They will select the team to Hershey Penn races early August.
