Kaua‘i’s Lost Pets

We are really lucky on Kaua‘i to have a safe refuge for lost pets where they receive shelter, food, water, and loving care. Many of these pets arrive hungry, dehydrated or injured. Our staff and volunteers immediately go to work upon their arrival to comfort these guys and check to see if we know who their owner is.

On any day, we receive an average of a dozen lost pets at Kaua‘i Humane Society with the majority not wearing any form of identification to say who they belong to. For those microchipped or tagged, almost 100 percent are happily reunited with their family. For the others without any I.D., the reunion rate is sadly less than 20 percent.

We are now conveniently open seven days a week for pet owners to come search for their lost pet. We offer low cost microchipping daily for only $5 per pet which includes a free lifetime registration in our database. Our humane officers are equipped with microchip scanners in their trucks so if a pet is chipped, they can contact the owner and deliver them directly home.

Lost pets whether rescued by a tourist or by us, have a much better chance of surviving if brought to the Society. If you want to know where your pet is, please stop by and get a microchip n the pet I.D. that never falls off and means a safe trip home.
