Getting the puck from Chanel Tremblay, Bryan’s stick was true and the Dragons took a 5-4 win over the Sharks in the Squirts division game for the Kaua‘i YMCA Inline Hockey Association matches.
The Dragons rolled on this momentum, and despite being outnumbered by teal shirts, rolled out a 6-2 victory Sunday to complete a weekend sweep over the Sharks.
Bryan was the leading scorer in the victories, nailing four goals Friday night and another four nets Sunday.
Chanel Tremblay added the additional score Friday as well as two key assists to Bryan.
Marissa Aceret led the Sharks’ attack with three goals, including her final shot with just a second left on the clock. Edward Punua had the Sharks’ additional goal Friday.
On Sunday, Prisma Verzosa joined the scoring attack with two goals joining Bryan’s four.
Punua and Eli Leech-Kritchman paced the Sharks’ Sunday scoring.
Dragons’ goalkeeper Tomas Sanchez was 14-for-20 in Friday night saves while Iki Punua finished 14-for-16 in Sunday saves.
Joshua Lakotas tended for the Sharks with a 12-for-17 performance Friday and 15-for-22 in Sunday’s matchup.
Joshua Lakotas had come off a 6-2 win by the Wave Riders over the Fireballs Sunday where he added a goal to the 5-goal performance by Isaac Lakotas in the victory.
Nina Antony scored both goals for the Fireballs.
On Friday night, Shannon Sitzler netted the sole goal in the contest to give the Wave Riders a 1-0 showing over the Fireballs.
Aceret did tending duties for the Fireballs Sunday, going 6-for-12.
On Friday night, Aceret tended for the Wave Riders with a perfect 4-for-4 showing in saves.
Tyler Lewis did the Fireballs’ goalkeeping Friday with a 13-for-14 performance in the box.
In the Bantam division, the Green team split their series, opening with a 5-4 loss to the Devils Friday before coming back with an 8-5 win Sunday.
Pierce Int-Hout netted two goals Friday and charged out for a 5-goal performance Sunday for the Green.
Jean-Luc Tremblay, also netting two goals Friday, added three scores and an assist. He also had an assist Friday night.
Mathias Davis led the Devils Friday night with three goals and an assist in their victory. Jacob Lewis, Kawai Peahu and Cydney Sitzler also netted goals.
Cydney Sitzler continued his roll Sunday with two goals for the Devils’ effort, aided by a goal and two assists from Brandon Taylor. Matt Heller and Austin Taylor also netted goals.
Kiana Tremblay, tending for the Green team, was 30-for-35 Friday night and 41-for-46 on Sunday.
Greg Balmores was 34-for-38 in saves Friday and 18-for-26 on Sunday for the Devils.
