Free parenting classes designed to give parents practical solutions for raising their children are being offered every Friday at 6 p.m., starting April 27 at the Kapa‘a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Free teen and pre-teen classes will also be held at the same time to provide kids the skills they need to face today’s challenges.
“Local residents who are parents themselves and understand the challenges faced by today’s parents will serve as facilitators,” said community response specialist Moana Ta‘a, in a press release.
The classes also provide a network of ongoing, parent-support groups within the community, noted Ta‘a in the release.
Sponsors of the parenting classes include the county Anti-drug Office, state Department of Education — Parent Community Network Coordinator program, drug prevention and education teams, Kaua‘i Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
For more information, contact Ta‘a at 241-6392 or Bridget Arume at 639-0284.
